French Macaroons (Macarons)

Macarons @ The Palazzo
Originally uploaded by tsaiware

I don't generally eat cookies, but while we were staying at the Palazzo on our last trip to Vegas these sweet little treasures were in the Concierge Lounge and I had one, then another, and then I just decided to get one of each. There may have been another flavour not shown, but it doesn't matter. All I know is that these are the best cookies in the world and I've just googled them and no one sells these or bakes them on a regular basis in Toronto. Damn Damn Damn. (Shown are : Chocolate, Vanilla, Strawberry, Pistachio). At least I know what the heck they're called now. Anyone going to France? Feel free to send me some!

Thanks for the flowers!

Portraits

Clearly if I take enough photos, I'll have some nice candid shots. Thanks to all my little models!

Summer Clouds

The only good thing about this rainy summer has been the wicked clouds we get to see.

The RT

I got to ride up in the front with the driver, but he wouldn't slow down so I could take better pics!

My New Favourite Place

The Family

Every year without fail, we have a visiting raccoon family. I caught these guys sleeping for hours in the tree sheltered from the rain. I actually thought maybe they died cuz they were there for 1/2 the day (not moving). Good thing I was wrong.

20 minutes

I rarely stand in line for anything, let alone a line that wraps around three sides of a tent that doesn't seem to be moving. But A insisted that I wouldn't regret it and sure enough he was right. I had mine fully dressed, normally I have my corn plain, I believe it started with a bit of butter, then lemon, and some spice mix...AWESOME. Thanks One Love Corn!

Telephoto Lens

These two pics were taken from roughly the same area, the first photo at 17mm and the next one with our new Telephoto lens.

This was with the 300mm setting. Pretty sweet! I'll take pics of the new lenses sometime soon. I didn't have the cha-ching to buy the IS lens, but I'll just keep my amateur zoom lens photo taking in the daytime.

How could anyone resist this beautiful deep fried goodness from Mr. Greenjeans? Handcut potato, sweet potato and their classic Buffalo Chips with a chipolte dip.

This was the only "event" I made it to during this year's festival.

This is a bit much

Isn't this a disservice to these poor little things, come on, since when can't a dog walk on its own?

I bet this box would be alot lighter if there wasn't a dog on it!

The closest I got to water

I never go to the pool in Vegas, mostly because I never go to pools in Toronto either. But I did take some cool pics of the Bally's water feature. Close enough.

Renovated

...in the 60's or 70's. When we first got our "upgraded" to a suite room. I refused to stay in it, so we went for a drive and 2 hours later, I didn't want to switch. I still don't know what made me change my mind, perhaps some cooling off time or the fact that it was almost 3 times bigger than my apartment. Our view wasn't so bad and having a his/her's separate sink and vanity area was also a plus however I wasn't a fan of the bidet, so that door remained closed for most of our stay.
