Lighting on King

Now that its dark by the time I leave work, I seem to have this new fascination with lighting. I recall once thinking that I'd become a lighting specialist, that probably lasted about a week.

Afghani Kabob

As their menu states, Bamiyan Kabob - Best Afghani Hala Cuisine in the City! Before the office moved downtown, we worked relatively close to Bamiyan. Close enough to have it at least twice a month. Every now and then we hear of someone who has gotten in their car and made the trip across the Gardener, up the DVP back to East York just to have the Kabob...and we did it today! Sure you get caught in traffic and have to eat as fast as you can, then get caught in traffic on the way back and feel so full that you're going to explode, but it is totally worth it.

This is the Barg kabob: Tender pieces of filet mignon marinated in our special recipe. The meal includes rice, salad and nan.
We also shared something called Boulagnee: Pan fried stuffed with potatoes, herbs and spices.

Anyways, if you're ever in Toronto, and want the best Afghani meal in the GTA you've gotta try Bamiyan Kabob:

And on the Yonge Street facing windows, they have a baroque theme going on for the holidays. I love these window displays!

Black and White

All things Pumpkin

I'm not a big fan of desserts and such, even though I love taking photos of it. But for some reason I've always gotta try things made from pumpkin. The infamous pumpkin muffin at Starbucks was eluding me the past four weeks. When ever I happened upon a Starbucks, I'd look for this muffin but they were always sold out. Then I realize that on my way to work I actually pass four Starbucks, and I have never tried to get one in the morning. So last week, I got off the streetcar and got in the huge coffee line and wouldn't you know it there was the muffin, a pumpkin scone and a pumpkin bread/load (except it had raisins-yuck!). And the Spiced Pumpkin donut at Tim Horton's is also a must try!
